The American Airpower Heritage Museum collects, preserves and interprets the complete history of World War II Military aviation culture through its collections, educational programs and exhibits in order to preserve the memory of the men and women who built, serviced, and flew World War II military aircraft.

The museum's collection focuses on the complete history of World War II military aviation culture and the material culture of the World War II era; it is one of most complete collections of World War II aviation culture in the United States and represents all of the axis and allies that participated in the air wars of World War II. The AAHM collects items, artifacts, and historical information of inherent value to World War II aviation and related culture, focusing on the period of 1939 - 1945. The collections are utilized for exhibits, research, and educational programs that support the AAHM mission.

The collection staff is currently in the process of completing a complete collection inventory. The inventory was started January 2004 and we hope to have it completed by the end of July 2005. An accurate inventory is helpful to the museum in many ways, providing accountability for the objects that we own and realizing where the gaps lie in our collection are just a few.
